Hi there,

I am trying out the Woocommerce Stripe Gateway plugin to receive payments for our courses. Thanks to whoever made this plugin – it looks promising so far.

I have however run into one problem. At the moment the order number appears on the customer’s receipt, but it would be more helpful if the product name appeared on the receipt instead.

Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

I have tried adding the name of the product to the short product description, but that did not help.

I have also tried deactivating all the other plugins, and doing another test but I still only got the order number rather than the product name / product description on the receipt.

Unfortunately Stripe customer service cannot help with this.

Hey there!

The plugin doesn’t send individual items to stripe, it submits the order total for the order and processes payments for the order that way. It doesn’t see the items, only orders.

Thanks very much for your reply.

Just to be clear, the reason we want this function is so that the customer knows exactly what course they’ve booked when they look at the receipt afterwards. The order number means nothing to the customer. Maybe the customer is unsure if they have booked the right course if no relevant info is on the receipt. Or a few days later they want to check the name / date of the course (which would be the product name), which they won’t be able to do.

Surely it’s standard practice for a receipt to show what the customer has purchased, so I’m a little surprised we don’t have this functionality here.

Is there any workaround to fix this? Or would I need to look for a different plugin if I want the receipt from Stripe to show what the customer has bought? Or perhaps I can still use this plugin, I just need an extra plugin for this functionality? I noticed a number of other people have had the same issue here:

One user in that thread suggested some code, but that code didn’t work for me unfortunately.

Otherwise this plugin looks great and it would be a shame not to use it.

This issue has been solved now. I installed a Sendinblue plugin which was one of the ‘Suggested Dedicated SMTP Providers’ and now order confirmation emails are being sent out fine.

The order confirmations are being sent from woocommerce (not from Stripe), I think…
