• Hello I noticed there was a thread that was closed that needed the product variations added to the invoice / order product line. However I don’t see this functionality.

I even tried to just cut and paste that infomation into description field of the product line of a quote generated from WooCommerce and it still didn’t work.

Is there anyway around this issue. Since there are variations in WooCommerce this is very important information to include on my quotes, since they do effect the total price.

    Please advise.

Is ther a way that I can hook the meta data to the Sliced Invoice description?

I am using a plugin called WC Field Factory which does not include the extra fields as variations, rather it includes them as extra meta fields.

I also request that variation text should be part of the Invoice Item output. This is crucial in a WordPress/ Woocommerce environment.

    Hi @rfdprint and @mttorley,

I’m looking into this, but to be honest I’m not sure what is being requested here. If I create a test order using a product with variations, I do see those variations already on the invoice.

For example, if I create a product “Tshirt” with size options S/M/L and color options Red/Green/Blue, and then for my order I pick “M” and “Blue”, the generated invoice says “Tshirt – M, Blue”.

If you could please, can you clarify and/or give me an example of what you want to add regarding product variations that isn’t already there?

    Thanks,

If you add any meta fields the the item from the order manually or otherwise they are not transferred to Sliced Invoices.

Some plugins add “variations” data as meta fields that are displayed the same as variations to the customer, but they are not variation fields, they are meta data.

If you create a woocommerce order and change the status to one that still allows you to edit the order after creation. Slide your mouse over the line item (on the right side) and you will see a pencil (edit mode), click on it and you can add additional fees, surcharges, features etc. to the product. After you add these lines you will see a button that says “add meta”, if you click it, the extra data and prices are included for the product on the order. This meta information and additional meta data is not transferred to the Sliced Invoices when the woocommerce order status is change to Invoice, or when the invoices are created automatically.

I use a plugin that automatically adds meta data based on user input on the product page, so when invoices get created, a lot of information is missing, and since your invoices lock and cannot be edited after they are converted from a woocommerce order, It is not even possible to add this information myself manually.

    I hope that helps?

Still love your plugins, they work great and as soon as there is a solution to the meta data issue, it will be even better for my workflow.

    Thanks for your hard work!

    Hi David,

While I sent you information via your support request, my problem isn’t like MikeW’s above, but one regarding templates I believe. I use your customizable template files copied into my theme, not the ready to go variety. Possibly the version and content of the ‘customize me’ templates is not the same as those pre-built?

    Hi again,

I’ve released an update v1.1.0 which adds a couple new options on the settings page, including one for showing the item meta data within the line items. If you get a chance please give a try and let me know whether it addresses your need.

By default it will show all item metas, but if necessary this can be filtered with the new filter ‘sliced_woocommerce_order_item_metas’.

@mttorley, there have been a few minor updates to the built-in templates over time, although not many, but it is certainly possible your custom templates could be a little out of date if it’s been a while since you did them. However keep in the mind that Woo Invoices overrides the template a bit when it comes to line items. If you look at function sliced_display_woocommerce_line_items() in includes/output-filters.php, you’ll see what I mean.
