    Hi!

I’ve been playing a lot with the Product Level add-on and here is one thing I ran into.

Currently I use this hierarchy. Though it saves time on managing some of the materials, it still makes me have a Product Part for each size-color variation (and this still is cumbersome to maintain).

    T-Shirt Design (Variable Product)
    –T-Shirt Materials:
    —-Sublimation Paper: 0,4
    —-Plastic bag: 1
    —-Self adhesive label: 1
–Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey XL: 1

It would be nice, but I’m not sure if it is possible, to be able to control the quantity required by the Variable Product for all items in the hierarchy from the variable product itself. That way I can set the ones I don’t need to zero.

    T-Shirt Design
    –T-Shirt Materials:
    —-Sublimation Paper: 0,4
    —-Plastic bag: 1
    —-Self adhesive label: 1
    –Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey:
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey S: 0
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey M: 1
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey L: 0
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey XL: 0

A Variable Product Part keeps coming back to my mind like a good idea for this kind of scenario. But it is still doable if I can control what’s required from the product itself.

    Requests Summary:
-Be able to control the required quantity for each item in the hierarchy from the Product itself.
    -Variable Product Part

    Hi brisamia,

Thank you very much for your post and for using our official add-on.

I am glad you have found a system within the existing setup.

Regarding the Variable Product Part request, give us some time to investigate the possibility of doing this. The plan to make this a feature is already in place, but before it could be done, we need to complete all the other projects we already started.

To the other issue: when you say control the required quantity for each item in the hierarchy, do you want the whole child tree to be visible in every product? And that you can edit it within the edit, correct?

That’s great! Can’t wait for it to be implemented, you guys are doing a great job with this plugin. Can’t wait for the app as well, that will be a game changer!

Yeah, that’d be it. To be able to edit the quantities requires by a product through the entire child tree from within the Variable Product itself. That way, I can make a Product Part hierarchy that looks like this but then just substract the actual required item:

–Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey: 1
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey S: 0
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey M: 1
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey L: 0
—-Basic Short Sleeve Lady Grey XL: 0

Anyway, this is simply a workaround from not having a Variable Product Part yet, so if it’s hard to implement, no worries, I rather wait for the Variable Product Part.

    Thanks!

    Hi there!

Any updates on this feature? Will it be released any time soon?

    Thanks!

    Hi brisamia,

Thank you very much for your post.

Product Parts and Raw Materials can be made of another product part and raw material so the hierarchy is endless. The update came out early 2018.

You will be able to demo this very soon in case you wish to.

If you have any further questions, do let me know.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Pavel,

Well, I think we already discussed that nesting was not exactly what I was looking for. It was you who named the feature just like this:

Variable Product Part and Variable Raw Material

I might be missing something in your logic though. Please let me clarify:

    T-Shirt shop

I print t-shirts wheh the orders come in. So what I basically sell on my shop are designs (which are later printed on a T-Shirt.) That means I have a lot of shared stock between my WooCommerce products. Two completely different designs can use the same Product Part (a blank T-Shirt).

Each Product-Design is a Variable Product with attributes for colors and sizes. So my variations look like:
    ..Lady Awesome Design T-Shirt
    ….Lady Round Neck S-Grey
    ….Lady Round Neck M-Grey
    ….Lady Round Neck S-White
    ….Lady Round Neck XL-White

For each one of those Variations I’d like to have a Product Part (a T-Shirt).

Now, the current nested logic, as I far as I understand it, makes me have one Product Part for each Size-Color variation possible, which is a little bit of a hassle (not impossible though, so maybe that’s how I’ll have to handle it)

If I could have a Variable Product Part, though, I could add the Size and Colors as attributes for that Variable Product Part, just like the original Variable Product, and make the same exact variations in just ONE place.

I’d then need to be able to add these Product Part Variations to each of my Product Variations.

The advantage as I see it: I can control stock for one type of product from ONE single place.

So, my Variable Product Part would look like this whit it’s variations:
    ..Lady Round Neck
    ….S-Grey (Stock= 2)
    ….M-Grey (Stock= 4)
    ….S-White (Stock= 1)
    ….XL-White (Stock= 15)

Kind of looks like nesting, but the main difference is that I can request stock from the specific Product Part Variation I need. With nesting, as I far as I recall, I can only add the parent Product Part and that will substract stock from everything bellow it.

Sorry for the long long text, I’m just trying to be as clear as possible.

    Hi brisamia,

    Thank you for the reply.

I am very sorry, but will have to ask you to copy this message and open a discussion in our support forum https://forum.stockmanagementlabs.com/t/premium-add-ons.

You are not allowed to discuss premium features in WP forum and the WP admins already deleted a lot of posts. I do not want to lose the above suddenly.

    Thank you,

    Pavel
