    Hi all,

I’ve translated my website and now my products are in 4 different languages but the Google Listings & Ads plugin declares them as if they were all in Spanish (original language) and Google Merchant throws and error because the language it detects is different from the the declared one.

Is there any way to declare the language manually in Google Listings & Ads??

    Hi @sucius,

I understand that you have translated your website and products into four different languages, but the Google Listings & Ads plugin only declares them as Spanish, which causes an error in Google Merchant Center.

This issue might be related to how the Google Listings & Ads plugin handles multilingual sites. The plugin currently supports only one language per site, and it uses the site language set in WordPress settings. Therefore, if your site language is Spanish, the plugin will declare all your products as Spanish, regardless of the actual language of each product.

To resolve this issue, you have a few options:

    • You can use a subdomain or a subdirectory for each language version of your site, and set up a separate Google Merchant Center account and a separate Google Listings & Ads plugin for each subdomain or subdirectory. This way, you can declare the language of each site and product correctly, and avoid the error in Google Merchant Center.
    • You can use a third-party plugin that integrates with the Google Listings & Ads plugin and supports multilingual sites, such as WPML or Polylang. These plugins allow you to translate your products and sync them with Google Merchant Center in different languages.

    Hi Afzal,

    Thanks for the info.

I’m currently using Polylang pro and have declared each product in their respective languages but the Google Listings plugin still won’t pick up the right language.

I’ve contacted Polylang support and I’ll see if they can help.

    Thanks,

    Hi @sucius,

It sounds like you have already contacted Polylang support and are waiting for their reply. That’s a good step, as they may be able to help you resolve the issue. In the meantime, you can also check some settings in both plugins to make sure they work well together.

    • Make sure you have the latest versions of both plugins installed and activated.
    • Go to Google Listings & Ads > Dashboard and click on the Sync products button. This will send your products to the Google Merchant Center and update their language settings.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Polylang says it’s a Google Listings & Ads problem, since it just supports one language.

I’m at a loss here, since Google support has offered no solution either

    Hi there @sucius ??

Google Listings & Ads does not currently specifically support multi-lingual extensions for product syncing.

The primary store language will be used when syncing products to the Merchant Center.

Google will choose to display the listing to its users based on their locale and language preferences.

If greater multi-lingual support interests you,?please let us know.
