Product Import not recognizing skus

    Hello,
    I’m having an issue with importing updates to our products. We imported the products by syncing with quickbooks POS but the categories did not transfer over, so I’m now trying to update the product categories via csv. I’ve done a test run, and I checked the box for updating existing products. However, it is skipping the products saying they don’t exist even though the sku matches. It does add the categories into the categories list, but it does not update the products with their proper categories. The website is in progress currently but waiting for this category update to be able to launch.

    I tried copying the information directly into a csv I got from here https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/ so that the format would be correct and that didn’t seem to work. I did get rid of any unnecessary columns, and only had name, sku, and categories.
    Any help is very much appreciated! Thank you!

    Update: I have tried to make a csv via excel, and google sheets and it produces the same problem. I have also tried exporting the products adding categories and then re-importing and I get the same problem. This is such a strange issue.

    Hi @sarahchellis,

    I understand you are trying to add product categories via the CSV file and you removed all the other columns and have name, sku, and categories. You are getting the following error message when you import the file:

    they don’t exist even though the sku matches.

    The best way to update the existing product is via exporting the products as a CSV file, update the categories and import it without deleting any columns.

    whoops! I figured it out- I had exported without the post id, so i re-exported with the post id and imported that and it worked! Thanks for your help.
