The site is connected to Mailchimp Woocommerce via the plugin, however when automated emails are generated the order info loads OK but none of the product images come through. I’ve discussed this at length with Mailchimp support and they have said this is due to the image URLs being created by Woocommerce are causing broken links. Could you please advise on how this may be fixed?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Are they broken for you or for customers?

Automated Email campaign images won’t show for you if you haven’t bought anything from the site. All you will see is a placeholder.

Both. I’ve ran a number of test orders and the order details are there but no product images.

We’ve got three sites running with Mailchimp for Woo and two of them appear to not be pulling through the images. Mailchimp are saying the image URLs are broken.

Something may be blocking the images from displaying. Have you tried using a different API Key too?

Make sure your not using anything like AdBlock Plus installed on your browser.

What theme are you using? Have you tried switching to a default theme and running tests?

We’re not running any Adblockers on our browsers.

I’ve also tried the default theme and changing the API Key with a fresh install of the plugin and they start aren’t pulling through. The themes we’re using are Blush and Vayne.

However, I’ve noticed in the dropdown in the set up ‘Product Image Size’ that a number of image sizes are broken or don’t appear to be loading correctly. For Example the dropdown displays:

    Thumbnail (0x0)
    Medium (0x0)
    Medium Large (0x0)
    Large (0x0)
    Post Thumbnail (1568×9999)
    Woocommerce Thumbnail (0x0)
    Woocommerce Single (0x0)
    Woocommerce Gallery Thumbnail (100×100)
    Shop Catalog (0x0)
    Shop Single (600×0)
    Shop Thumbnail (100×100)

    Could this be the issue?

Something is conflicting there for sure.

What do you mean exactly? Where?

Within the Mailchimp for Woocommerce plugin setup there is a tab named ‘List Settings’. Within that tab you can define the product image size used by abandoned carts, order notifications, and product recommendations via a dropdown list. The list of image sizes I’ve listed above is what appears in that list.

There’s a new upgrade for the plugin. See if that helps out.

I’ve updated to the latest version Mailchimp for Woocommerce 2.1.16 and re-synced all the store data however the image URLs are still broken.

    Hey @ashbash

The site is connected to Mailchimp Woocommerce via the plugin, however when automated emails are generated the order info loads OK but none of the product images come through.

Can you clarify where these images are not being displayed, please? Do you mean that when you read this type of email in GMail, the image isn’t displayed?

Head into your Gmail settings and the General tab. There will be a section for images. Change it to “Always display external images” and the image should now work.

Let me know how you get on!

    Thanks,

    Hello,

I have the same problem. The problem is that the image of the product is the relative url and not the absolute url.

So the url of the image is for exemple now “/files/2019/05/Sunday_clothes_mode_pull_8-400×600.jpg” and must be “https://www.mellowsunday.com/files/2019/05/Sunday_clothes_mode_pull_8-400×600.jpg”

Is there a way to have the absolute url?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi @florianlg

I appreciate you dropping the details of your similar situation in this thread for others to find.

@ashbash – We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. I hope our recommendations help you reach a solution.

    Thanks,

We had this issue and I determined that the images were referencing the development URL of our site. We had connected the Mailchimp for Woo plugin while still in development. The products which were imported at that time show broken images when creating and sending a test email. 2 products which we created after moving the site back to the production URL show up fine.

To determine if you have this issue, send your test email including products with broken images to a gmail account. Within gmail, right click the broken image and choose Copy Image Address. Now open a new tab or text editor and paste that value. Look at the end for the URL that references your image. Check the http/https value, the domain, the subdirectories and look for anything incorrect.

If you find that you are referencing an old URL, development URL, or old folder structure, go to the main tab for Mailchimp for WooCommerce, DISCONNECT your store, then reconnect it. This should re-sync your products with new URLs to MailChimp. Worked for us.
