Product image as selection

I need to be able to have a customer select 3 options the material, the size and then would like to display the pattern/actual item as an option there could be 20-30 different designs to choose from and these are constantly changing and different between each product. is there a way that the customer can do this pick the Material then pick the size then select the exact item they like the look of but would have to be different for each product so cant set up a generic one for say blu colour option as there could be 20 different patterns that contain blue and then another product could have another 20 differnt options
