Product gallery transisions – Where did the fade option go?

Under ‘products’ we used to be able to specify whether we wanted the transitions between images to be set to fade or slide. This seems to have been removed. My client want’s to reduce the amount of unnecessary movement in her shop, and I’d be inclined to agree with her.
Is it no longer possible to fade between images instead of sliding?
Ideally we would do this in the main carousel and in the lightbox.
If there’s a setting, where is it? Or if there’s some code we can use to do this instead now, what is it and where does it go?
