    Hi Forums,

So I’ve been looking for a plugin that would allow me to have horizontal product filters instead of filters in the sidebar. It seems almost all the plugins available are for the sidebar. However, I have finally found one that allows me to have a horizontal top placement (Themify Product Filters). The plugin is great, but my Shop-page is behaving very oddly.

Whenever a specific option is picked on the product filter plugin, and the filter actually filters the shown products, then the plugin disappears! I suspect this is because I added the plugin as a shortcode to the main Shop page, and the plugin is thus not applied to subpages and therefore disappears. But I am not sure.

Have anyone tried this kind of odd behavior before? And if my own analysis is correct, does anyone know how to fix it?

I can usually Google my way to an answer for any WordPress-related issues, but this issue is apparantly too specific.

Any comments or contributions are very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

@mortalkiller666 By “behaving very oddly”, do you mean that the product filter disappears after you select the parameter? It looks like you insert the Themify Product Filter in the shop page content. Try to add product filter shortcode via a hook location or sidebar widget. When the product filter result is rendered, it replaces the page content.

    Hi there!

It sounds like this is more of an issue between your theme and the plugin in question rather than the core WooCommerce plugin itself.

Moving forward, we’d recommend getting in touch with the theme developers directly or the plugin developers in question. As for the suggestion from @themifyme – that sounds like a solid plan there – executing the shortcode through a hook would mean it has much more permanence and is less like to be overridden by theme template overrides.

@themifyme Thank you for taking the time to answer. Yes, the product filter disappears after I select a parameter. I’m inserting the shortcode into the content such as instructed by your provided installation YouTube-video.

I Googled the “hook” thing and it looks like a developer task. I’m not a developer and that’s unfortunate because I really liked the plugin. I suggest that you put as a disclaimer for the plugin that out of the box it only works with Themify themes.

@riaanknoetze Apologies for the wrong placement of the post. I was not aware of subforums for plugins. I am now.

@mortalkiller666 If you insert the Product Filter via a sidebar widget, it will work as well. We understand your concern. Will talk to our developer to see how we can keep the product filter on the shop page.
