Recently I found some weird behavior while I’m using the woocommerce built-in Product Import/Export. The Product Description field started to include HTML code instead of the plain text. I didn’t update any plugin in the past two months but it suddenly happened. Does anyone know if I accidentally touch any settings caused this? thanks!!

  • Hey there, @kimmadev! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

Do you mind sharing more details on this issue?

Is this happening with all products?

Are you seeing the HTML code on the .csv file or on the website when you import the products?

Can you share screenshots of this with us so we can take a look? I recommend using https://snipboard.io. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Furthermore, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.
You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    hi @carolm29,

Yes this is happening with all products.

The HTML shows in the description column from the exported product csv.

For the system logs, is there any private way to share it? As this is a public website, I’d prefer not share the system info here. Thanks!

    Hi <span style=”color: rgb(50, 55, 60); font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 14.4px; white-space-collapse: collapse;”>@kimmadev</span>,

Thank you so much for the additional details.

You may share your System Status Report and error logs through our Quickforget service: https://quickforget.com/. You may set a two times download limit and a 24h expire time.

Additionally, I just tested this and I quickly edited one of my products to add some formatting to the description and got the HTML tags on the export as well, which makes sense to preserve the description as it is! If you’re having troubles importing your file with HTML tags you may want to check this support guide to fix this: https://woo.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/#permission-error-when-importing.

    Looking forward to your reply!

Thanks!! If this is expected behavior then I’m okay with it.
