Product Edit Will Not Update But Quick Edit Is Fine – Why?

  • This morning I was able to edit product records on my website without a problem.
    This afternoon I find that I can no longer save changes as the Update button does not have any effect. When I try to leave the page I am warned that changes have not been saved.
    Yet I can make and save changes using Quick Edit.
    So my question: why should Edit/Update not work yet Quick Edit/Update works?
