If you’re editing a Woocommerce product, if you check the “Exclude from coupons” option, if that product has been added to someone’s cart, no coupon will work on the other items that are not excluded. This is from version 1.3.8, which is why I was trying to update to the latest version in my other thread.

Is this a bug that was fixed in a newer version? What is the point of this option? It’s supposed to not apply the coupon only to that product and not prevent the coupon from being applied to other items, correct?

    Hi @own3mall ,

    Greetings from WebToffee Support!

Thank you for reaching out regarding your concern. The ‘Exclude from Coupons’ option in the plugin currently functions such that if a product with this option enabled is in the cart, the coupon will not be applied, even if the cart contains products that do not have this option enabled.

We understand that this behavior may not align with your expectations or desired functionality. We have acknowledged this limitation and are actively working on improving it in an upcoming release of the plugin.

In the new behavior under development:

    • For percentage and fixed product coupons , the coupon will apply, but the discount will only be applied to eligible (non-excluded) products in the cart. Products with the ‘Exclude from Coupons’ option enabled will not receive any discount.
    • For fixed cart discounts, if a product with the Exclude from Coupons option enabled is present in the cart, the coupon will not apply at all. This is because this coupon type evaluates the cart’s overall eligibility.

We hope this explanation clarifies the current functionality and the enhancements planned for future updates. Please stay tuned for upcoming releases where these changes will be introduced.

That certainly sounds better, but it doesn’t sound right for “fixed cart discounts”. For the overall eligibility check, the fixed cart discount should apply if there are ANY products in the cart that don’t have “exclude from coupons” set. Is that doable? I realize that these may be limitations with WooCommerce itself, but fixed cart discounts should still apply if there are any items in the cart that don’t have “exclude from coupons” enabled even if there are other products in the cart that do have it enabled. The only time it should not apply is if the cart is full of items that have “exclude from coupons” enabled

    Hi @own3mall,

Thank you for getting back to us and for sharing your feedback on the ‘Fixed Cart Discount’ coupon type.

The ‘Exclude from coupons’ feature is designed to enhance the existing ‘Exclude products’ option on the coupon edit page. As such, it aligns with WooCommerce’s default behavior, and altering this behavior beyond that is not feasible.

We can, however, look into the possibility of modifying the functionality using custom solutions so that you can use the feature as per your requirement without affecting the plugin’s workflow.

We will be introducing these changes in the plugin’s upcoming releases.?Thank you for your understanding and support.
