    Hi there,

I’m having some issues importing products via CSV files. These products were exported from an English website and need to be imported into a Chinese website.

When I translated some attributes into Chinese and imported them, I found that the Importer did not work properly.

The following figure shows the recognition result of Importer before translation:

When I translated only Attribute 2 value(s), it recognized the following result, The values ??of other columns are identified in the Attribute2 value(s) column

I can confirm that there is no file encoding problem, they are all UTF-8 files

    Hello suitlm

Thank you for contacting Woo support.

I understand that you are facing an issue with the import process after you translate the attributes into the Chinese language.

To find out what is wrong with the import process, I recommend you try the inverse of this process.
First, you create a product with these Chinese attributes in the WP admin dashboard.
Then you export the product into a CSV file.

Once you have the file exported, compare it with the CSV file that you are trying to import.
This comparison will highlight any issues with the CSV format and the Chinese characters.

Let me know about your findings. ??

    Best regards.

    Hi Zubair,

Thank you for your suggestion. I just tried it and found that it was still an encoding problem. I need to change the encoding of the CSV file to UTF-8 BOM so that it can be correctly recognized.

    Best regards.

    Hello,

I tried some more complex products today (with variations), but I still have the same problem.

I did this with the following steps:
    1. I used CSV Importer to import a CSV file containing only English information to create a complex product with variations. Everything is OK.

    2. Then I manually added the Chinese attribute value and assigned it to the product

    3. Then I exported this product using CSV Exporter and re-imported it using CSV Importer, but I still found some errors.

If you wish, you can use the following files for testing:

    Hello suitlm

    Thank you for your reply.

I checked the “wc-product-export-26-6-2024-1719373419578.csv” CSV file and imported it on my test site without any error.

Could you tell me which error are you facing?
    Screenshots will be helpful.

Here is a screenshot of the product that I imported to my test site.

Looking forward to your reply. ??

    Best regards.

I tested it on a brand new website and the problem still exists

    Please check this video. https://we.tl/t-rwjG0ppxXm

Thank you for reaching back, with further details on this @suitlm .

These products were exported from an English website and need to be imported into a Chinese website.

How about taking a different approach to this, and edit content before exporting from the English website? Did you already have a chance to test with this, or otherwise?

I tested it on a brand new website and the problem still exists

Based on what the video showcases, the site comes with plenty of plugins already installed. Feel free to test with a fresh site created from a service like tastewp.com, for example, and see if the issue persists.

Gut feeling: this has not only to do with encoding, but with site setup also.

    Hello,

The data was exported from an English website, and the local website imported was also an English site.

The website is brand new, I just copied some commonly used plugins to the plugins folder, and I haven’t activated these plugins, so they shouldn’t affect the database content.

Please check out my latest video where I start by downloading the WordPress installation files and adding products completely manually, exporting them, and then re-importing them on the same website, and I run into problems.

Based on this video, the Chinese attributes seem imported correctly, they just aren’t displaying accurately on the mapping screen. Am I right?

If so, does this happen on the live site? And what happens when you set the site’s default language to Chinese?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hello,

I tried the online site today, I created a new site on Siteground and imported the csv file, everything worked fine, it seems that my local Xampp environment is too old, I’m not using the latest version.
