  • Hello,

Thanks for reaching out. The vendor shop page uses the category archive template of WooCommerce so if your theme provides a layout with sidebar, you should be able to list down the categories in the sidebar as we have done on the demo store page- https://demo.dualcube.com/wordpress/plugins/dc_woocommerce_multi_vendor/vendor/demo_vendor/.

Let me know if that helps.

Thank you for your quick reply. I review your demo site, it displays the product categories from all vendors. What I want is, for example, on Vendor A shop page, it displays the product categories of Vendor A, on Vendor B shop page, display the product categories from Vendor B, ….. Actually, your plugin already can show the products on each vendor’s shop page, but I want to show the product category too. Thanks.

I’m keen to find out if this is possible, too. Was just coming to ask the exact same thing.

@tops98- Thanks for the clarification. Vendors don’t hold the capability to create new categories, all they do is select the categories( created by site admin) for their product. Though the idea makes sense, in the vendor shop page, only categories containing the concerned vendor’s product(s) would show up. Please rectify if I missed out the idea here.

I have added this in our to-do list for the future updates, maybe 2.3.1 or 2.3.2.

yes, that is exactly what we are talking about. thanks

Thanks @tops98, I had a discussion with the technical team on this feature and it seems to be a bit complicated than anticipated by me initially. WCMp logic uses the WooCommerce category archive template to create the Vendor shop page. Now if you take a closer look at WooCommerce features, you would notice that even the product search option( default WooCommerce) doesn’t changes the category sidebar i.e say you search for jeans, ideally the categories in the search result should have products related to jeans but WooCommerce still shows all categories in the website. The logic extends to all other pages too.

We would definitely try to add this feature in future but the tentative time for the same is something that cannot be committed upon.

thanks for the clear explanations. But on the default WooCommerce, it allows user to choose showing either products or product categories/subcategories or both on the shop page(in admin setting). means if I choose to show products, then will show products only on shop page, but if I choose to show categories, then it will show the product categories first on the shop page. So I am thinking if WCMp can allow us do the same on the Vendor shop page too. right now WCMp only automatically shows products. I am not good at code technical, so not sure this feature is just a bit small add on or still a complicated technical work.
but no matter what, deeply appreciated about all, your plugin is so great, will recommend it.

Thanks for the cooperation and the support. I would try to add this option in coming future so that as like WooCommerce, admin can select what shows on the Vendor Store page, ideally would try to keep all 3 options as provided- product, categories, both.

As of now, you would need a developer who can assist you to create a customized template for the archive page via a child theme. If you need us to step in, please reach out via the official website: https://wc-marketplace.com/. I am also available over live chat so that we discuss this further.

    Regards,
    Sandeep
