    Hello,

I’m encountering an issue with duplicating products that have attributes configured. When I duplicate an existing product, the “save attributes” button remains grayed out and the attribute data does not function correctly.

    • Details:
      • Issue: Duplicated products lose proper attribute functionality—the “save attributes” button is disabled and attributes are not retained.
        • Workarounds:
          • Creating a new product page from scratch results in working attributes.
          • Duplicating a product and then deleting the existing attributes, followed by creating a fresh attribute group, resolves the issue.
      • Environment:
        • Plugins installed:
          • Product Variations Swatches for WooCommerce (Version 1.1.9 by VillaTheme)
          • WooCommerce Product Add-Ons (Version 7.5.0 by Woo)
      • Testing: I have run WordPress troubleshooting mode with all other plugins and themes disabled (except WooCommerce and the two plugins above), yet the issue persists.

Could you please help investigate why duplicating products is causing attribute functionality to break?

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hello ftank47,

Thank you for contacting WooCommerce support.

I understand that when duplicating a product with attributes, the “Save attributes” button remains grayed out, and the attributes do not function correctly.

I tested this on my site but couldn’t replicate the issue, as the button appears active.

To rule out conflicts, try checking with only WooCommerce active.
Please share a screenshot of the product edit page so I can better understand the issue.

Looking forward to your response. ??

Zubair, thanks for your initial test.

I did the test with only Woocommerce active, and in that narrow situation, a product page will duplicate and attributes can be modified and saved. Essentially, the “save attributes” button is blue and active as expected.

However, in my situation, I do have to test with “Product Variations Swatches for WooCommerce (Version 1.1.9 by VillaTheme)” turned on too because the product pages that are being duplicated need to have attributes that use the functionality from that plugin.

Once I have that plugin turned on and duplicate a product page with attributes that use the features from that plugin, the grayed out “save attribute” situation occurs. If I delete the attributes in that duplicated page and then add a “fresh” or “new” attribute, the “save attributes” button becomes active and blue.

I suspect that “Product Variations Swatches for WooCommerce (Version 1.1.9 by VillaTheme)” saves attribute data in a way that Woocommerce can’t understand it after a duplication. Perhaps a reference in the database that relates the additional attribute options is broken or missing after the product page is duplicated?

    Hello ftank47,

    Thanks for the update.

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you took and narrowed the cause of the problem.

I understand the problem is caused by Product Variations Swatches for WooCommerce.
It would be best to contact VillaTheme support. They should be better equipped to diagnose this issue and provide a solution.

Please let me know what they say.
I am here if you need further assistance. ??

    Best regards.
