    Hi
I want to create a product which contains several audio files, as one download, so the best option is put them into a zip file.

Otherwise I would need to upload those individual files and include them in the product, in which case the buyer would need to download those files one by one (which is a hassle).

Is it possible to upload a zip file as a product downloadable file without purchasing any special extensions? I need to this it just once.

    could you please advise.

  • Hi @magicpowers,

As per the documentation on Digital/Downloadable Product Handling, you should be able to upload a zip file. The specific text that I am referring to is here

You can also combine files into a single archive (zip).

I tested it out myself and was able to upload the zip file to a virtual/downloadable product as well as download it as a customer on purchase completion.

I hope this is helpful! Good luck!

    Hi @kaavyaiyer

    thanks for your prompt reply.

I think we are not on the same page here and that’s because I didn’t explain well what I want to do ??

I want to create a downloadable virtual product (let’s call it ALBUM or BUNDLE) which contains 13 hyperlinks to the 13 audio files saved externally to my website on another server.

So rather than including 13 links on the product page, which means that the buyer will receive an email with 13 links to click on to download one by one, I would like to include just ONE link which the buyer will receive in an email and when they click on it once, those 13 audio files will automatically download to their computer.

Perhaps this is not even possible LOL. I can’t create a zip folder with just the hyperlinks. I guess I could create a pdf document with those inks, but they will need to stay active (clickable) for the buyer.

Secondly – can a download link be to a file which is saved externally, not on my website?

So perhaps the proper question to ask is:

What is the best way to create a virtual downloadable product which consists of 13 hyperlinks to the actual audio files saved externally to my website?

    thanks!

    Hi @kaavyaiyer

    UPDATE ***

I was able to create a pdf document with the clickable links to the audio files. They open in the browser’s player and can be saved locally. I can upload this pdf as my product download, so this should work fine.

I will still test it of course, but so far this looks like a good solution. The buyer will have one document with the links from which they will be able to save the audio files to their computer.

I’m still curious about the product download links to files store externally (I can’t test it on my staging site). Could you please advise.

    thanks

    Hi @magicpowers,

Thank you for providing more clarity and I am glad the pdf works!

WooCommerce will work the same with an external URL that points to your download file. But it will work only if the File download method is set to Redirect only (insecure).
However, selecting the method above is not recommended as whoever has the upload link will be able to access the file, even when they are not logged in.

You can read more about it in this article.

    I hope this helps!

    hi @kaavyaiyer

    thanks.

that was just a curiosity question.

    My PDF method works.

I had to refresh my memory about uploading files via Woocommerce ?? – all is good now.

    many thanks
