Checkout Input Fields not working?

    I’m new here, so apologies if I stumble. I’m an indie author doing my very first author signing event March 16th. I needed to get my website up to par beforehand, so I started a dev site to rebuild while the main site was still live. I’m nearly done, and I realized on testing, the checkout isn’t working. You can add the test item to the cart, fill out the shipping option box, and hit “Continue to Checkout” just fine. Once you get to the checkout page, you can’t click any of the input boxes to add your information, so the Continue to Paypal button doesn’t work either.

    Site information- I’m using the latest updated WooCommerce and WordPress versions. I also use Elementor Pro, and utilized page templates to build/style my pages. Plugins installed are Jetpack, WooCommerce Services, WooCommerce Colors. I’m using Paypal Standard, but I also tried Paypal Pro and the Paypal Checkout Gateway. I turned off Jetpack, Woo Services and the various payment gateways to test. I’m using the Page Builder Framework with a child theme, so there’s nothing in my theme that would interact with it, or shouldn’t be. I’ve used the same theme for multiple sites and haven’t faced this perplexing issue before.

    I did make a lot of CSS changes in the Customizer. I removed those for testing as well, and they didn’t make a difference so I added them back. When you load the page, it briefly shows the country selector so you could click on it, but then once it’s fully loaded, everything goes blank and non-clickable. I’m not ‘new’ to WordPress and WooCommerce, but as I started on Weebly and mostly use Elementor to build pages, coding and things are a bit over my head, so if anyone has a clue what I could check/test next, small words would be preferable ??

    It appears to work on mobile, I tried it in Safari on my Iphone. Works fine there, but won’t work on my Laptop in Chrome or Opera.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    I understand that the checkout page doesn’t work as expected on your https://dev.liliompress.com/ site and it isn’t possible to continue to PayPal or use other payment methods.

    I wasn’t able to test this by adding a product to cart because of this:

    There are a few potential reasons why this might be happening:

    1. A plugin/theme conflict is the most common reason. If you see any JavaScript errors in Console (browser developer tools) – that would most likely be an indicator of a conflict. You can test whether this is caused by a conflict by doing a plugin/theme conflict test.
    2. Looking at your System Status Report I see that your MySQL Version is outdated and the server does not have the SoapClient class enabled – some gateway plugins which use SOAP may not work as expected. You may want to reach out to your hosting provider to get this fixed. If this is a dev site and this cannot be fixed – most likely you’ll have to do test on a live site.
    3. There’s no SSL certificate installed. Some payment gateways need an active SSL certificate so that might need to be fixed too.

    After I posted, I realized the database connection had gone screwy, and had to contact the host to figure out what the issue was. We restarted the MySQL which seems to have fixed that, at the very least.

    I’ve already tested the plugins and don’t see any JavaScript errors, so I’ll try getting the MySQL updated and the SoapClient enabled and see if that helps. It is a dev site, so you’re right, this may be something that I have to just put up with on a live site while it’s being fixed. I had hoped I’d be able to get it sorted on dev first, but that’s the reason it doesn’t have an SSL cert either, the live site does.

    So yeah, I hadn’t thought about that… everything works fine on the live site, so this may just be because the dev site is on a different server that might have different specs. I’ll get it transferred and see if that solves it. Thanks so much!
