Problems with wordpress

  • My website is using the Effective News theme and has got some weird text coming up all acrossed a website I manage. It only happens with various links on various pages and carousel items but they all seem to be related to pdf’s which we don’t even have on the website.

    It even shows up in the scrolling bar at the top of the website.

    Weird thing is that after reinstalling 4.4.1 version of wordpress it disappears for a few hours then returns.

    To rule out any theme/plugin issue, try:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder (if you have created such folder). The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old.
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Sixteen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Maybe but we’re also getting the weird text within the backend of wordpress, for example the admin menus are showing the same problem as the website itself.
