On my header I have a cart icon which displays how much items are in the cart. But this is not working very well with the caching plugins.

If I open the homepage, I then go to the shop page and add an item, then I go back to the home page, the cart item shows as empty. This is a huge issue.
Can I somehow exclude this part from caching?

How can I solve this issue?

Note: It’s a custom functions to create the cart count icon on the header (not coming from the woocommerce templates)

well, first of all; Autoptimize does not do page caching, so make sure this is not a page caching issue.

if the problem indeed is with Autoptimize then first and foremost try to identify what is breaking things by just disabling CSS or JS or HTML or Image optimization (incl. lazyload). Based on that we can see what the next steps need to be.
