• Hi there

I’m hosting some of my blogs on One.com. Previously creating a blog in a subdomain was as simple as creating a folder and typing the name of that folder followed by the name of the domain.

For example, if the folder was named “blog” on “blahblahblah.com” you’d type:

    blog.blahblahblah.com

    …like a regular subdomain.

But, in WordPress 2.6 this isn’t possible any longer. Instead, you are redirected to the root, in this case blahblahblah.com.

    Like this:
    https://test.medieblogger.dk/

…notice how it redirects, or sometimes just go blank.

A strange thing is, that if you go down one more level, it works great:

    https://test.medieblogger.dk/wp/

..and WordPress tells you that there is no wp-config.php file – like it should do.

Why isn’t it possible to create a blog in subdomain.domain.xx anymore? Or is there a way to fix it?

    Thanks in advance,
    Lars K Jensen

  • I installed a WP in a subdomain (2.6.1) a week ago, no problems.

That’s odd. Do you have a WordPress installation in the doot of your domain?

No the rest of the website is html.

    Is this issue resolved?

    I think I’m having a similar problem.

    • I have a subdomain wordpress.mysite.com which is mapped to mysite.com/wordpress
    • wordpress works fine with the blog address and wrodpress address set to mysite.com/wordpress
    • when I change those two addresses to wordpress.mysite.com wordpress breaks

    what could be the problem?

I don’t have a solution but I, also, have a blog in a subdomain (click on my name) and another blog style in root.
Also I have set up numerous blogs for folks in subdomains just by doing as the op described.
    Maybe get with your host?
