Problems with Smartslider and Autoptimize

    Hi there!

    Today I installed Autoptimize, for optimizing HTML, JS and CSS, and after activating it, the Smartslider created at the site, stopped working. I tested this plugin in other of our sites (Autoptimize) and everthing went well and at pingdom and google page speed the optimizacion of page load was incredible, but at our other sites with smarslider installed and running with sliders, they directly do not come up, just leave a blanc space. Can you give a hand for solving this?

  • from AO’s perspective; have a look at your browser’s error console, it could tell you where things go wrong. if you would for example see “jquery not defined” then you could exclude js/jquery/jquery.js from JS optmization. AO’s faq contains some other tips on how to troubleshoot as well.

    Hi @ibiza69!

    In Autoptimize settings if you go under the “JavaScript Options”, and turn off the “Force JavaScript in <head>?” option that should solve your problem. I think the issue with this is, that it’s changing the order of our code, and that is making the error.

    Today I went thru your instruction and didn′t work, so I unactivated.

    What I did it′s test and finally left this activated. I have to translated into english as our wordpress is in spanish:

    – optimize HTML: activated

    – optimize JS: activated
    – forze javascrip: activated
    – JS in line: activated

    – optimize css: activated
    – CSS in line: activated

    – save scripts and CSS unified as estatic files: activated

    And now the smart slider seems going well.

    I think the reason your plugin doesn’t work well with caching plugins is because of all the comments. If you use a min version of your css and js for the plugin to work and provide the major version in the .zip file in case a dev wants to edit, they’ll know what they are editing and then they can make the minified version of there edits themselves, but caching plugins won’t break your code and thus won’t break a users site.. well at least not because of your plugin.. ??
