Problems with Save and Publish

    As of this afternoon, WordPress won’t let me Save or Publish anything.

    The auto-save function works the first time, but then jams and won’t work again.

    I’ve checked the permissions for “post.php” and they’re fine.

    I’ve checked the permissions for “wp-admin” and they’re fine.

    I’ve checked the error logs for the server and there’s nothing there relating to reading and / or writing.

    I’ve disabled all Plugins and then attempted to Save and Publish, but there’s no change.

    I’ve tried quiting and restarting Firefox and that didn’t work.

    I’ve logged out of WordPress, deleted all Cookies for WordPress in Firefox, quit and restarted, but there’s no change

    I’ve tried using Safari and I get the same problem.

    Any ideas? I don’t know what to do next…

    After a while, the reason why WordPress won’t save or publish came to me; I’ve never been able to either save or publish anything beyond a certain number of characters, which is around or about the 2,000 mark.

    For some reason, successive versions of WordPress choke and simply will not let me manually save, yet they happily auto-save.

    Something for the developers to look into, since this has been the case across multiple versions of WordPress and various servers…

    Hi. I’m having the same problem, and was before I updated to 2.6 from 2.3. I can’t create posts, pages or categories. They just won’t stick and I get the “You attempted to edit a page that doesn’t exist. Perhaps it was deleted?” message. I’ve tried reuploading the WP files, fixing permalinks, etc, to no avail. I’m basically dead in the water.

    Any ideas?
