Problems with plugins and posting images

  • Just upgraded to www.remarpro.com 4.1.1. I’ve been using WordPress for 5 years. Suddenly developed scripting problems and problems with several plugins.
    1. Add Link to Facebook plugin is version 1.209. Shows red on plugin page. Cannot update to version 1.215 because it cannot delete the old version. Tried manually deleting through plugin page. Also tried deleting directly from host server, would not delete.
    2. Aksimet has an error message saying my subscription has lapsed. (Had free personal account).
    3. Thumbnails in Media Library are greyed out. While I can upload new images and the software appears to generate the several required versions in the wp-content/uploads folder on my host server. They are not visible in the library and cannot be added to my posts, except by copying the URL and manually adding.
    4. Postings to Facebook are somewhat garbled compared to past. https://www.facebook.com/jmressler. Last post was added to FB three times(?!?!?!?).
    5. My blog-head.jpg banner image cannot be loaded. I can navigate to it and see a grayed out version, but get and error that it cannot be cropped. Cannot figure out how to add by inserting URL manually.
    6. I have tried deactivating all plugins, didn’t help.

    Were you trying to delete the files via FTP or your hosting provider’s control panel? Did you see an error if you tried this, and if so would you please quote the error?

    Aksimet has an error message saying my subscription has lapsed.

    You’ll need to contact them via https://akismet.com/contact/ about that.

    They are not visible in the library and cannot be added to my posts, except by copying the URL and manually adding.

    Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Postings to Facebook are somewhat garbled compared to past.

    Are you automatically sharing to Facebook on publish? If so, what plugin are you using for that?

    I assume this is related to #3, which is probably related to #1.

    1. Tried both through cPanel and via FTP. Got message that I did not have permission. Tried changing permissions to 755, 767, 777 Permissions revert back to original settings. All deletes return.

    3. Tried deactivating plugins before posting. Did nothing. Switched to twenty fifteen before posting.

    5. Using Marcel Bokhorst’s “Add to FAcebook” Plug-in v 1.209, which I cannot update to v 1.215 because v 1.209 cannot be deleted.

    1. Ok, you’ll need to talk to your hosting provider about that then. Something is messed up with your account on the server. It’s not a WordPress issue, it’s just an issue affecting WordPress.
