I hadn’t updated the Web site in a long time, and I finally decided to do so. The problem is that, now, there appears to be a problem with this plugin.

At the top of the plugins page and the Advanced TinyMCE Config page, there is the following message:

The Advanced TinyMCE Config plugin requires attention: you are running TinyMCE 4.0 (WordPress 3.9 or newer) but the settings for the editor have not been updated. This can result in errors while editing, or the editor may fail completely.

Are the settings this is talking about something to do with the plugin or TinyMCE itself? Disabling the plugin made the message disappear.

  • I have this same message. I am not sure how to resolve it. More specificity would help here. What am I missing?

Count me in, same here. Same message and no idea how to solve it.

This warning is for TinyMCE itself. Many of the settings changed a lot from version 3.x to 4.x there.

Yes, it does appear to be connected to TinyMCE, but the warning is only there when your plugin is enabled. Disabling it makes the warning go away. I’ve left the plugin enabled on one of my sites, and, so far, there haven’t been any problems, so it may be that the warning can be ignored, but there are probably a lot of people who wouldn’t want to take the chance.

I’m getting the same message. Does anyone know how you update the TinyMCE settings for the editor?

I’ve added that warning as the TinyMCE settings added with this plugin needed to be checked for validity when updating WordPress from 3.8 to 3.9 or newer.

The warning will go away when you re-save your settings.
