Problems with my comment system

  • Hi all,

    I had many problems with wordpress and have resolve them after reading this forum which has been very useful. However, there is another important problem that I have encountered. It probably is simple but I can’t work around it, maybe because I’m too tired of resolving issues. Anyway Let me get to the problem.

    When someone wants to comment on a post, I get this error message.

    “404 Error: Not found
    The page you trying to reach does not exist, or has been moved. Please use the menus or the search box to find what you are looking for”

    Also, my URL is messed up:

    https://www.quick360achievements.com/http:/www.quick360achievements.com#comments

    Can someone tell me how to resolved this?

    I think it has something to do with the folder positioning on the server. But I don’t want to play around with them in case it causes more problems.

  • the 404 is probably a result of the messed url;

    check your permalink settings ‘dashboard’ ‘settings’ ‘permalinks’

    Please note: You never, ever put your site url in the permalinks slot. You must use one of the structure tags, or a combination of tags only.

    My current permalink structure is

    /http:/www.quick360achievements.com

    its a custom structure.

    Is this the problem? Do I have to delete it and use the default?

    Yes, delete ASAP – that custom permalink structure makes no sense at all (your root URL is always in the permalink anyway – the customising is for the extras)

    yes – this is a problem – that was the reason i posted the links to the docu and the quote about not using urls in the permalinks.

    please re-read the docu.

    try to work with the default permalinks.

    Yes, it works! Thanks a lot guys this has been causing me some problems for the past 2 days.

    All I have to do now is change the main menus permalinks and also the rest of the HTML structure I’ve integrated with wordpress.
