I upgraded wordpress and now when I create a new site on the multi network it won’t connect to the database.

I create the new site and it says it was created but when trying to go to the site it says, “Error establishing a database connection”. Also when trying to go to that site’s dashboard it just takes me to the main site dashboard.

I called godaddy support and they said it was a wordpress issue and I just don’t know what to do.

Please tell me how to fix this.

I should also mention that all sites I created in the multi network previous to the 3.2.1 upgrade all still work fine.

    – you have 30 minutes to edit your post here in the forums so you don’t have to put multiple replies.

    – disable all your plugins and make a new site. does it work?

basically you get that error when the new site is not created completely in the database.

I tried that and it still does the same thing. I even tried re-installing the update. I called support at Godaddy and they couldn’t do anything. I’ve created, deleted, and created again and nothing is working. I can’t find a way to uninstall the multi network – tried deactivating it and reactivating but seems lately when I deactivate any plugin they all seem to continue working even after I delete them – not sure what’s up with that.

It’s obviously not creating properly even though it says, “site created”, but when I try to update the network I get this message, “Warning! Problem updating . Your server may not be able to connect to sites running on it. Error message: A valid URL was not provided.”

    Any other ideas?

Godaddy sometimes takes 15 minutes to show a change made on your site.

Also, you have a tn of different unrelated problems. We need to tackle them one at a time.
Which do you want to tackle first?

I uninstalled multisites and all my issues seemed to have gone away. Something about the ugrade just didn’t like multisites ability. I didn’t really need it so I just did away with it and my site is running smoother. I know you answered me over on buddypress.org also and most all those issues were cleared up after removing multisites also. I might try to reinstall it later and see if I still have the same issues.

Your host doesn’t support multisite on its bottom-line hosting accounts either.

You can actually hack it to work on the lowest levels of GoDaddy if you buy a dedicated IP. I’m afraid it’s been months and I don’t remember well enough to put instructions (sorry. ?? ) but it is possible — I’ve been running it that way for some time.

Now if I could only get localhost running here…
