Problems With Media Library

  • I upload the photos, they’re indicated by name in the media library but no thumbnail, and when I try to insert them in a post they come up as blanks with the text wrapped around them. If I click “Edit” from the media library, then “Edit Image”, I can see a large thumbnail of them on that page. But still not in the library and I still can’t insert them in the post.

    Other photos work. Those can be inserted into the post without problems.

    They are located in the folder public_html/wp_content/uploads/01 and I moved some of them to just the uploads folder to test them out from there, with no success.

    I don’t know how to figure it out. What’s the problem?

    Sorry, I left out a folder. The location is: /public_html/wp-content/uploads/2011/01

    Under Media Settings, it’s set to default. However, the Organize My Settings into Month- and Year-Based Folders box is checked. But unticking that box doesn’t make any difference if I try uploading another image. It can be viewed in Edit Image, but still can’t be inserted into a post.

    Is this happening with all photos or just some of theme? Is the uploads path input blank?

    Also try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

    It was the uploads path. The Media Uploads setting was pointing to the wp_content folder on my test site, which is in a folder within the public_html folder. I changed it to the correct folder and all seems to be in order now.

    I’m having the exact same issue. It appears my uploaded media files go here: https://sherrymonahan.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Prospector.jpg, but this latest photo doesn’t show.

    Under my Media Settings it indicates to store uploads to:

    /home2/sierrac0/public_html/wp/wp-content/uploads

    I tried changing the media setting to match the other, but then nothing worked.

    What am I missing?

    I searched for more Media entries and tried a few. This worked:

    I changed that to wp-content/uploads and it works fine.
