• hi,
I am quite the novice with WordPress but am greatly enjoying the experience in creating my new blog at kevblog.kevbro.co.uk

quite simply though I am disappointed with the ‘subscriptions’ widget –
I got everything installed and activated ok, but get the following problems.
    1.
it simply does not send out an email, even though it says it has, and then does not clear the original text, but adds to it on the page.
before hitting the submit button the text is:
if you think you can out-grump me
then enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email.

after it has allegedly done it it shows as:
An email was just sent to confirm your subscription. Please find the email now and click activate to start subscribing.
then enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email.
(it’s perhaps best seen by visiting my blog)

    2.
the other problem is that it simply will not show up on all pages even though I have tried all permutations in the ‘visibility’ section
I can get it easily on to my 2 pages, or just the front page – but NEVER on all 3!

after doing some research I found a short code that DID work on all pages, and sent out a great email, but it is not as elegant as having one in the sidebar, and eventually did just the same as the widget.
this is the code I tried on the bottom of my pages and my ‘sticky’ post:
    [jetpack_subscription_form]

Your site appears to be properly connected to WordPress.com, so the subscription emails should be sent properly.

It’s worth noting that confirmation emails are only sent once, so if you previously attempted to subscribe but never clicked on the link in the confirmation email, you won’t receive a new email if you use the subscription form again today.

You can confirm your pending subscription here:
    https://subscribe.wordpress.com/

If you’d like, you can send me an email via this contact form and mention this thread, as well as a few examples of the email addresses that didn’t receive a confirmation email. I’ll be happy to take a look at our email logs to find out what happened.

does not clear the original text, but adds to it on the page.

Yes, that’s something we need to improve. It’s on our radar, and you can follow our progress here:

I can’t find Jetpack’s Subscription form widget anywhere on your site at the moment, so I assume you removed the widget.
If you want a widget to appear everywhere, you shouldn’t have to touch any of the visibility options.

If you ever want to give the widget another try, could you let me know if you still experience this issue?

    Thanks!

    thanks Jeremey,
I’m on a short golfing break at the moment, but will look into it all on return to UK

I appreciate such a full reply to what was a long post, but thought it would be more helpful to fully detail my problems.

I’m 70 now and have had more than my fair share of job titles in that time, but must say that none of them had such a great title you have in your post!
    regards,
    Kevin
