• Hi, I am having quite a trouble with a customer: I moved all the client’s accounts to gmail, I created a specific user for the bounces but with new settings It doesn’t work at all.

I checked all the settings, when I save them and click on the connection test everyting seems fine, but If I refresh the wp page and try the connection test again, I receive the alert

    Error connecting to {imap.gmail.com:993/ssl/service=imap}
Retrying PLAIN authentication after [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure),Retrying PLAIN authentication after [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure),Can not authenticate to IMAP server: [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure)

I don’t understand, the email account works perfectly, It’s able to send and receive emails, I double checked the credentials and they’re all right. What could it be?

    Thanks for your help!

  • hi @rombo76,

As it says, AUTHENTICATIONFAILED error, that must be your password is wrong or Gmail is blocking your connection request due to “Access less secure apps” security option of gmail. Please check this page about it -> https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en

If password and other things related to authentication are correct than your settings should look like this ->

After connection test, please don’t forget to save settings.

Please let me know if you still face the problem.

    Thanks

Hi Tanim, thanks for your reply.

Yes, google settings are ok, less secure apps have been enabled and the credentials are correct. But it doesn’t work.

When I insert the credentials, I save the lot and run the test: everyting’s fine, as you see here:

    https://unsee.cc/ec096f65/

Then, I reload the page and some fields turn yellow, I re-run the test and the alert appears:

    Hi @rombo76,

In the last photo https://unsee.cc/ceaaa1d4/ I can see your password length is shorter than the first photo you’ve posted here.

It’s seems to me that some javascript conflict doing such mess. So, where is turns around in my opinion ->

1> check if there is any error in browser console and if there, please let us know.
2> Clear all browser cache and see if this problem solved.
3> Finally, you can uninstall and remove this plugin than reinstall to see if that works.

    Please let me know.
    Thanks

Hi Tanim, thanks for your reply. I emptied browser cache and cookies, but the problem still remains. The only errore the console returns, is regarding the duplicate id for the “save” button, which is the same in both Settings and Actions&Notifications tabs:

[DOM] Found 2 elements with non-unique id #submit: (More info: https://goo.gl/9p2vKq)

    Could this be it?

    Thanks again.
