Recently when editing in WordPress, I have experienced the following three problems:

    1) When editing I can only edit in Visual mode, and can no longer switch over to Text mode.

    2) I cannot change the publishing date on my blog posts.

    3) I cannot create a new hyperlink that will open into a new window, but I can create a new, regular hyperlink that will not open into a new window. When trying to access the options to get the hyperlink to open into a new window, I can’t get the hyperlink options box to popup and open up for me to do this.

I’m running on Windows 10, WordPress version 5.5.2, and am utilizing the Firefox browser version 82.0.2.

Please let me know what you believe the problem may be.

    Thanks!

    Jim

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Thanks for your help! It turns out that it was the Classic Editor plugin that I was still utilizing, and once we disabled that, everything works fine now with the current WordPress editor.
