Problems with Easy 5 Minute WordPress Installation on Windows
-
Am following steps in the installation doc under topic title above to install WP on my own Windows XP Professional with IIS computer for the first time. (I am beginner and not very skilled technically.)
I installed Web Platform Installer successfully.
I received message that all dependent programs installed successfully but
WP bombed so I rebooted and ran install again and got further; all the way to a screen entitled step #2 of 2 “Enter Application Info”. I’m not sure how to fill this screen out. I have tried multiple ways but I keep getting an error after hitting continue. The fields are the following:Choose Data Base – MySQL (its the only option)
Creat a New or Use an Existing Data Base – I’ve chosen “Create New”
Data Base Administrator – Can I put anything here or must it be something specific?
Data Base Administrator Password – Can I put anything here or must it be something specific?
Data Base User Name – Can I put anything here or must it be something specific?
Data Base Password – This is the only field that I was asked to complete earlier in the installation process. I kept track of it and input what I had previously chosen to enter here.
Data Base Server Location – I’m not sure what I should put here.????
Data Base Name – Can I put anything here or must it be something specific?
Unique Key for Passwords – Can I put anything here or must it be something specific? Can I leave blank?
Unique Key for Secure Passwords – Can I put anything here or must it be something specific? Can I leave blank?
Unique Key for Authentication – Can I put anything here or must it be something specific? Can I leave blank?
Second Unique Key for Authentication – Can I put anything here or must it be something specific? Can I leave blank?I have received several different error message depending upon how I completed the fields. The latest one was “Unable to Connect to any of the Specified MySQL hosts. Do you want to go ahead with install anyway?” I have chosen not to go ahead with install. Thought it might be risky. So I am stuck at this screen.
Would be grateful to anyone providing advice to solve this problem and help me get this program operating.
