    Hello,

i am not sure, if the latest update (4.8.2) is the reason of the problem, because after updating it took some time, after I tried to write a post. Actually it seems to be a css-oder javascript-Probem.

1.) When I list all posts, on the first view every things seems to be o.k. But when I click in “Edit” (german: “Bearbeiten”), the whole structure of the whole site collapses. (Please see this picture). I have also no possibility to enter text.
2.) When I go to the plugin page, the plugin-listing is not bicolor (one color for active, one for inactive) Please also see the picture linked above.
3.) When updating a plugin, there is not animated wheel ending in a check any more.

    What I did until now.
    – I deactivated all plugins.
    – I changed to standard wp-theme
    – I checked .htaccess , and replaced it with a standard one.
    – I downloaded a complete new 4.8.2 and changed wp-includes, wp-admin folder
    – I deleted the size in “wp-config” after changing it from 128M to 256M without success.
    – I even replaced the wp-content folder (it works with a lot of error-messages, but the crash appears in the same way as before)

On the same server, i have two more wp-sites. One with an not updated version, one with an updated version. Both work proper and well.

I appreciate any idea. Thanks a lot!

    Best regards
    Michael

    – Please check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message and see why it’s failing. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.
    – If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the error logs, try Enabling debugging

meanwhile, try Troubleshooting with your browser. Your browser can help you identify JavaScript issues or conflicts and this article can assist you in doing that diagnosis. This could help identify Visual Editor issues as well.

I’m having similar problems on my Mac using both Firefox and a clean version of Safari (complete reinstall of Safari with cleared cache…’cause I almost never use it).

It seems the problem is version 4.8.2, as my friend (whose blog I guest write on) is still at version 4.7 something, and I have none of those problems using his admin dashboard on my Mac.

Is there I way I can UN-update and so back to a previous version of WP for my own blog? If not, I do hope these bugs can be fixed quickly, and the workarounds are annoying.

Thank you for your reply. I called my provider, and he started a ticket to have a look at the problem. I enabled debugging and looked at the log files. But what I read there, did not tell much to me and the guy of the support.
Interesting: I uploaded just a .jpg (RGB) under “www.viogan.de”, after calling it via Browser, it does not load fully in Firefox und Safari, but in Chrome. This seems strange to me (and the guy of the support).
As soon as i have a feedback, I will post.

Ok … crazy situation. After 5 days of problems, a lot of work and lost time, the website works again … and noone knows why.
The support did not call me, thats why I wanted to call him today. Before calling him, I tried the website again, just to be sure to have the problem again on screen. Big surprise: Everything works well again. So I called the support, to get the information, what he has done. But they told me, that nothing was done since now.
So finally we did not find the problem, but everything works well again. For me it is good on one hand, but on the other hand I hate it, not to know the reason. If I should get further information, I will tell.

Yep, same thing here! It seems to have happened within the last few hours. Everything is back to normal! Someone must’ve fixed something. ??

What provider do you have? Strato?

GoDaddy. I asked them to look into the problem over the weekend but haven’t heard back yet. They might have been the ones to fix it on my end, but the timing sounds more like it was fixed on the WP end.

Probably it was server cache which got clear after sometime!

I just realized, that today at 3.30 p.m.(CEST) changings at the folders “wp-content”, “wp-plugins” and “wp-update” took place. Just the folders itself, not one file inside the folder. Maybe the rights of the folder (writing etc.) changed?

Support told me, that this was not the case. But who knows …
