• Hi.

After installing the plugin, and writing my first post in another language with Polylang, I noticed only one category, out of 3, was transfered or copied over from the original post to the translated one. Plus, I cannot choose any other of the original categories (like PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360). Why does that happen?

Also, when I use search to look for the recent translated post, it doesn’t appear on the search results. Do I have to add a language string in search?

I’m using Polylang 1 Dev version.

Did you translate your categories “PlayStation 3” and “Xbox 360”? The way Polylang works, you need to translate the category in all languages where you want to use it, even if both translations have the same text.

Polylang should automatically manage the language of your search. For example, it will return only English pages and posts if you are currently browsing an English page. Does it explain the issue? If not could you provide a link?

    Thanks for the info.
I’m having another problems but I’ll do a post just for that one.

    Hi,
Actually I’m not able to set the language of a category any more. Newer versions of WP removed the categories manager from the admin. Also, I’m not able to set the title of a widget. This happens on new installs with version 3.5.

Can I insert the translation of a widget title directly into the database? Which tables are affected?

Thank you very much. This plugin is amazing ??

You should check your installation as the (posts) categories manager (fortunately) does still exist on WP 3.5. You may be confused by the suppression of the links manager (with links categories) in new installations of WP 3.5 (but that’s not an issue with Polylang as it has never supported the link manager. Moreover there is a plugin to bring the links manager back as it is not suppressed but just hidden).

For widget titles, you have to set a value in the widget options and then you can translate the title in settings->languages->strings translations. It works for all default widgets. It won’t work for widgets which are compatible with WP < 2.8

You are absolutely right. I was wrong, It works as expected.

Thanks again for sharing this work.

One plugin that has given me problems when I use Polylang and other plugins is W3 Total Cache. It caused some pagination and other conflicts with the I+S2 Theme and Polylang. I learned it’s best to disable W3TC (and other similar plugins) while working with other plugins and re-enable it once done.
