An odd glitch is happening where Wordfence removes bbPress from the dashboard and causes an error for any forum post. If I deactivate Wordfence, bbPress shows back up in the dashboard and responses will post on the forum. Any help getting this sorted out would be great.

  • Hi Jglucks,
Could you please tell me more details about this error you got on any forum post?

Do you mean that (Topics, Forums and Replies) in the Dashboard menu are hidden when Wordfence plugin is activated?
Please try to disable all other plugins (except Wordfence and bbPress) then re-check this issue.

Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.

i cant view bbpress on mobile i mean forums dont show up on mobile

    Hi @thickskys
It could be any other plugin causing this or maybe a theme related issue, please disable all your plugins (except Wordfence and bbPress) and re-check this issue, also try using the default WordPress theme “Twenty Sixteen”, if you can share your website link with us that might be helpful in checking this issue.

P.S. In future, in case you have any problem/question please make sure to open your own support thread, we will be glad to help as always!

    Thanks.

I am entering this conversation because my query is the same. I have a dating site that relies on bbpress and buddypress integration. Everything was going fine until I added wordfence. Then my dashboard forums settings (all of them) disappeared. Well, I can’t change my theme, bbpress or buddypress plugins. That leaves me with having to either find a way around this or to remove wordfence, which would be a great shame.

Anything else possible? Thanks in advance

@techfundz Are you able to access bbPress and BuddyPress settings page after deactivating Wordfence?
What about visiting these pages directly in your browser, do you get any error message there?
    example.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=bp-components
    example.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=forum

    Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Bearing in mid that for now Wordfence is on, and forums is invisible on my dashboard:

    1. Fine, I can see the Buddypress settings page
    2. No. The error is ” Sorry, you are not allowed to edit posts in this post type.”

BTW I have a forums page set up for my site and I can see forums I have created.

    Thanks, Anthony

    Hi Anthony,
Can you confirm that if you disabled Wordfence plugin, you can see “Forums” menu item back?
Also, did you update to WordPress 4.7? because I can see there is an opened ticket about this issue here.

    Thanks.

Thanks for your input. I just upgraded to 4.7 and switched several plugins off and on. The problem may have come from PM Pro. My problem has now been resolved.

When I did the previous tests I was certain the conflict was with Wordfence. Now, I believe I may have been wrong. My apologies if this was a false alarm and thanks again for your swift attention.

    Anthony
