Problems With Adding Email Followers

    I’ve installed Jetpack on one of the sites I work on, it’s a stand alone WordPress site, not a wordpress.com site. Via the wordpress.com admin, under Discussion > Subscriptions I clicked “Enable the ‘subscribe to site’ option on your comment form. I created a form on the site for people to subscribe to the blog. I also need to import about 900 current subscribers who want to be notified whenever a new post is published. (Previously we had used FeedBurner.) Several people I know signed up via the form and I imported about 140 email addresses through the “Invite” feature, 10 at a time as is required. Many had already responded when suddenly I’m now getting a message that says “There was an error retrieving email followers” and the page says, “No one is following you by email yet.” 10 minutes ago there was a long list displaying. Any ideas what happened and how I can fix this? Thanks for any help.

    Please note that Jetpack’s Subscriptions feature doesn’t really offer a way to bulk invite an existing subscriber list. The way you are doing this will only work for existing WordPress.com subscribers, it won’t allow you to import emails for users without WordPress.com accounts.
