I used to have all my photos for the scout trip on picasaweb. Worked well, and then it got bought out by Google so it transitioned to Google Photos. Well that went away too. Before it went away, I downloaded all my photo albums to my computer.

Now I want to put them back up to our WordPress site. Found this plugin and it seems to do the job. I’ve started to upload each directory one by one, and I get failures. Not much of an error message, just that the upload for the JPG failed.

I can upload the directory just fine using MEDIA.

Can I just use a regular old FTP program and FTP all the photos back up to some directory structure and have them magically imported into the gallery?

  • Dear @websoceress29,
You can try adding the images via FTP.

Upload your images to /wp-content/uploads/photo-gallery/.original and /wp-content/uploads/photo-gallery/.
Afterward, go to the backend of Photo Gallery and add all images to a gallery. Then Select all images, choose Reset from Bulk actions and click Apply.

Let us know how it worked.

    Sincerely,

You responded to the correct question but to the wrong person ?? I had another question posted.

Thanks for the reply. If I copy the photos into unique directory names, could an album based on that directory name be used to put the photos into? I have about 60 different directories (used to be Google Albums) for the different events. Would like them loaded into different Albums so people can look at just the specific ones.

Sometimes its hard to look at the thumbnail of the photo and know what album I want the photo loaded in to.

    Hi,

Please note that you can create folders/directories with different names in /wp-content/uploads/photo-gallery/. And afrewards, again you should Reset from Bulk actions and click Apply.

    Thank you!

    Have a nice day!

I uploaded all the photos, in their various sub directories to the /wp-content/uploads/photo-gallery/ folder.

I went into Gallery and selected Add Galleries/Images. The under Gallieres I selected Add New.

I do not see any of the photos or directories I uploaded. I have some buttons…Add Images .. Import From Media Library .. Embed Media .. Social Bulk Embed.

    Any more suggestions?
