• I have a hosting plan and custom URL with iPower, and I have installed WordPress on the site through iPower. However when I upload a custom theme in the “appearance” section I get this response.

“Are you sure you want to do this?

    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/update.php on this server.

Additionally, a 301 Moved Permanently error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

Can anyone tell me what could be the problem?

    Thanks,
    Nathan

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Ok I tried all three and still not working. I don’t understand why it would tell me “You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/update.php on this server.”

Might there be other settings I need to change? I have another URL on this plan that is the primary domain, could that have anything to do with it?

    Thanks for all your help!

You should not have to change anything. Did you install WordPress yourself or was it pre-installed? Have you spoken to your hosts about this?

I installed it myself though the hosts WordPress Install proccess which is only a matter of choosing the domain to install it onto and then clicking install.

I will contact them tonight but I worry they will not help me with this issue. I have purchased a custom theme from Theme Forrest and their directions say that I can upload through the appearance section or through my FTP. I cant seem to access the FTP (which I will ask my host about tonight) but the other method should still work.

Could it be…I need an older version of WP? Do I need a hosting through wordpress only in order to do this?

Ah one thing I just noticed. My site is not the wordpress theme, its an older version of my other site before I switched it to Cargo Collective.

I have website site A NathanManire.com, which is linked to Cargo Collective.

My new site B https://www.nathanmanirestudios.com, shows up with an old version of site A NathanManire.com, and it’s the version of the site just before I switched over to cargo collective.

I need an older version of WP?

    Absolutely not.

Do I need a hosting through wordpress only in order to do this?

No. It should work in a self-hosted install. It sounds like a server issue that only your hosts can deal with.

I have recently updated to the latest WordPress 3.3.2 and now when I go to change anything in my appearance / menu I get this:
Are you sure you want to do this?
    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /……../wp-admin/nav-menus.php on this server.

Anyone know how I can Solve this?

@intouchdesign: Please post your own topic.

I would of done if I could work out how to do that?
