    Hi,

I’ve been using the free version of this plugin for several months – with great success. But, this week, I’ve had problems on a couple of sites installing the latest updates. Error Message is as follows:

Download failed. cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 4095667 out of 4378520 bytes received

The problem started with updating to 6.1.1 on one particular site – other sites updated to 6.1.0 OK

But now two sites give cURL error 28 when I try to update.

I’ve resisted uninstall/reinstall so far – as I don’t want to risk loosing newsletter/subscriber data.

Appreciate any advice on how best to get round this problem.

    Regards,

    Mike

Hi, but it’s the updating procedure which fails? Since the update is managed by WP.org, probably they have slowness problems since the error message indicates there is a timeout.

You won’t loose anything, don’t worry, the database is not affected by the update process.

    Stefano,

thank you for your prompt reply.

I find it strange that I’ve only encountered this problem only on two sites, and only this plugin. I’ve updated many other sites with other plugins, and another two with the Newsletter plugin this week without a problem……

I’ll see if I can dig deeper and find out where the delay is occurring, and report back.

In the meantime, can you confirm that if I uninstall/reinstall the Newsletter plugin that I’ll not loose any Newsletter specific data – like Newsletters & Subscribers ??

    Regards,

    Mike

    Stefano,

I contacted my hosting provider – Siteground – looking for guidance in how to change cURL timeout value.

When they tried to replicate the problem, both sites updated without issue!

Find it VERY strange that I had the same error on different days attempting to update the same plugin – and then the problem evaporates…..

Never mind, the problem is sorted.

    Thanks, again, for your help
