I hope this helps some one out. I just spent a long time figuring this out. I misunderstood the instructions and other tips found here. I read them that you need to change all “.” to “_”.
First off, call your host, I can’t stress that enough. If they will, have them dictate exactly what you need to enter.
What hung me up was I thought I needed to turn all “.” ti “_”. But I only had to turn the ones for the db_name. The user name and sql host used “.”
Also my sql database host was different than my regular host.
    Good luck.

I’m trying to upload my wp-config.php file, but I don’t know how to upload it. This might be rather basic, but I need help! Thanks!

    malonk, FTP?
I mean in the same way you uploaded the other files to your server.

Obviously you need to open that file in your plain text editor (I prefer notetab from https://notetab.com — there is a free light version), make your changes to the config file and save it under the name wp-config.php, then upload it as ascii using your file manager or ftp program.
