Problems replacing old API Key with a new API Key
-
Hi,
I’m a programmer who was dropped into the middle of an existing WP blog. I moved the blog from one domain to another on a different server and upgraded from 2.0.5 to 2.3.3 and all is working fine
The person who originally set up the blog and the WordPress.com API Account isn’t around any longer so I don’t have that account’s username and password.
The original Akismet plug-in works fine under 2.3.3 and that original API Key but when I tried to add the WP-Stats plug-in and use that same API key it says I’m not the same person that set up that API account and they need to come in and validate the key.
Since that isn’t possible, I set up a new WordPress.com account and got a new API Key. The problem is it won’t let me put the new key in, says it is not the same key as last entered. It also said I could de-activate that plug-in, reactivate it and put in the new key, but that won’t work either. I even deleted the plug-in and reinstalled it and no luck. As part of the error messages, I did recover the original keys username but still need password. Since I don’t know what email address that original account has I can’t do the “forgot password” as the email won’t come to me.
I’m stuck in a loop, can anyone help?
Thanks
