Problems “remote – locally”

  • hi,
    I decided to bring in local my site to try calmly other issues, so I made a backup of all files and database and installed them in a sub directory of XAMPP.

    I have configured the file “config.php” with new data but to my surprise, the local typing url,
    I open a new install WordPress: the first time I post site name and email and here I am in the dashboard like I have a new install of WP! The site is empty!
    I tried and tried, reloaded DataBase, but always WordPress opens like a new installation. I can not understand why it does not consider the data in the database that I entered and also the wp-content!
    The installation as I write turns out to be new: the “wp-content” There are not items will only pages of the themes section!

    The DataBase is detected otherwise would not work at all, but why not read the tables?

    In mysql there are no other DBs created by the new installation of a DB of a local Joomla site (and of course the site DB WP I imported).

    It may make occasional mistakes, but I can not solve this problem.

  • Hey Noemi,

    When you installed the local version of the site did you import the database sql file into your database? And did you point your WordPress install at the same database using the same table prefix? WordPress normally installs with a wp_ prefix (unless you change it), but if you have some kind of hosting with a included WordPress install that might differ.
