I originally thought the problem was a theme issue because this works with other themes but then I noticed something.

I am using Events Manager v5.5.2 on a multisite install with global tables enabled.

I have one test event in category “alternative music”.

So far everything works except from the event single page when I click on the category the list does not show.

This works in other themes but not the dms framework theme.

What I just noticed, which makes me think maybe this isn’t a theme issue, is that in the events category section (in the backend) where it shows event counts per category – there should be a 1 in “alternative music” and there is a 0 instead.

While this doesn’t seem to make a difference with standard themes like twenty twelve it does seem to be in dms.

Any thoughts on this would be appriciated

Ok, well – the first event was created in a sub blog and I created a second event from the main blog. I have multisite options set to show all events from sub blogs in main blog.

Now – the category is showing 1 event but the list is still not showing in the dms theme.

hmm, am seeing two events listed on this category – https://nightlife.ictlive00.com/events/categories/genre/alternative-music/

just to confirm, you are having an issue listing events on category page, is this correct ?

Yes, I’m sorry – I had changed the theme but I now have the dms theme and will keep it up until this problem is solved.
This is the page that is not working.

Have you tried re-saving your permalinks?

If you assign another category to an event, does the new category work?

    Thread Starter thesingleparentperspective

    (@thesingleparentperspective)

Yes, I have re-saved the permalinks several times. Even tried changing them to something else. I have them set to postname.

This is the thread I’ve discussed this issue with the theme support staff https://forum.pagelines.com/topic/31304-issues-with-dms-free-and-events-manager/

This is a test event https://nightlife.ictlive00.com/bandprofile/events/test-event/

    I added extra categories.

You can click on the category and see it shows “nothing showing”.

At the moment, your category links are like this:
    /categories/genre/

I’d try dropping the /genre/ part – it might be the nesting that’s throwing things.

You might also want to test a completely different word than categories – that could be causing a clash somehow with the theme.

You can edit these under Events > Settings > Pages > Permalink Slugs. Don’t forget to resave your permalinks after each change.

I tried making a new category called test with no parent category. Also tried changing the slug and re-saving permalinks – it still doesn’t work.

This is what a member of the support staff with the dms theme had said,

“DMS will pull in the posts through the postloop as a normal category page would, which is why the default post is displaying. I would think this lies with how the §plugin is saving/generating the posts and what it expects/requires for them to be called and displayed.”

Does this make any sense to you? Could this be where the problem lies? Please keep in mind I do not know how to write code other than some html and css and even those I’m a beginner at.

I’m not sure that makes much sense to me. Not to say that they’re wrong, I’m just not sure exactly what they’re suggesting.

It looks to me like the theme is behaving as if no events have been published in that category. When you go to Events > Event Categories do the numbers of events in each category fit with what you’ve published?

    Thread Starter thesingleparentperspective

    (@thesingleparentperspective)

Yes and no. The number in the main blog shows only one but I have one each posted in the main blog and a child blog.
