Problems After Update

  • I updated my website to the most recent version of WordPress (I have done similar updating several times in the past) but now find that something has apparently gone wrong. When accessing the website –> https://www.bettylocal.com <– instead of the home page, it presents a new/different WP admin screen than I’ve seen before.

    When inquiring with my host’s support team, I am told the issue is that some of the tables are missing in the database. I am told that uploading the tables to the database will be required in order to fix the issue.

    I do not now where to begin.

    Help?

    I believe so. This was the reply from the host:

    I have checked the database ‘wrd_ied1mhai44’ and noticed that some of the tables are missing. Hence you are experiencing the issue. I have checked the backup and found same number of tables. Please verify this from your end and upload the tables to the database.

    What version of WordPress were you running previously?

    BTW: Earlier I attempted to Restore a Backup, b/c I thought that would return the database to how it existed at the time the backup was taken (which was last WED), but it does not appear to have fixed things.

    Go to phpmyadmin and try restoring/ old database.. This should help….

    Grateful for the help, you two.

    Okay, so I fear I may be in for learning a horrible lesson. I did not make a local backup before updating this last time. AND the only backup on the system is also missing tables (according to my host’s support guy).

    At this stage, I’d happily go back several updates to get the site to appear normally.

    Perhaps a stupid question, but is it possible to restore the db without a backup?

    Without backup not possible.. ??
