I have several instances of Flexible Posts Widget displaying in my primary sidebar, each showing a different category. It is working normally on the home page (latest posts) and regular posts and pages. Each instance of the widget is displaying the correct list.

But on category archive pages, it’s not displaying correctly. Each instance is displaying the same thing and pulling only from the recent post–ie. specifying a category has no effect. Only the title of each instance is correct.

Here is an example of it working correctly:

Here is a category archive listing where it’s not working correctly:
    https://historyinpieces.com/category/data/nsc-meetings
Each instance is identical and pulling from the recent posts, not specific categories.

I’m using Genesis framework 2.1.2, WordPress 3.9.1 and Flexible Posts Widget 3.3.

Have just noticed a second odd behavior. It’s not just pulling the most recent posts but the most recently updated anything, whether that’s a post, page, media, etc. But still only affecting the widget displaying next to category archives.

    Hi pxlar8,

I’m sure that FPW works fine in category archives just as it does on index and landing pages. I can’t know for sure what is causing this, but I would have to guess that there is some code somewhere in one of your other plugins or themes that is “hacking” the main query to loosely and therefore also hacking the FPW query.

I would start diagnosing it by disabling your plugins and/or active theme to see if one of these will resolve it. If you’ve completely disabled all other plugins and are using a default/system theme (TwentyTwelve, etc) and are still having the same trouble, let me know and I can look into it further.

    Cheers!

    Hi pxlar8,

Since I haven’r heard back in 2 weeks, I’m going to close this ticket. Please feel free to post again if you have additional questions.

    Thanks!
