problem with use redirect

Hi, I have a problem, something I do wrong with redirects.

When I create a redirect, I add a new one and put the address of the wrong one in the bar above. Then I enter the good destination address and save the redirect.

When I update the page to see if the redirection works correctly I get the correct URL but repeated many times, and of course it gives error 404. Could you explain to me what I do wrong John?
