problem with update: PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10)

    Trying to update the calendar in my test site before updating the real site and straight away running into a download problem.
    What to do?
    I tried this update on the admin widgets page
    the error I get is
    PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

    I was still using version WP 3.5.2
    all other widgets updated all right
