    Hi,

I have been using this brilliant plugin for a long time now, but recently it broke. I’ve googled, searched here, read tutorials, but I just can’t fix it.

We have a single Google calendar for upcoming services at our church. It’s set to publicly shared in Google’s settings, and I have generated an API key which has been entered into the plugin settings. Previously we didn’t use an API key but I generated one as part of troubleshooting this issue.

Whereas before the grid we have in the widget area worked perfectly, now it just displays an empty calendar with the following error:

“Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?) Please ensure your calendar ID is correct.”

The calendar ID is [email protected] and this is entered into the plugin’s settings. In the widget settings, ‘feed to display’ is set to 529, as this is the shortcode/ID generated by the plugin for the calendar entry.

I have tried removing the plugin completely and reinstalling, but we still see the same error. I’m running out of ideas! Could someone please take a look and give me a hand?

The calendar, broken as it is, can be seen at https://www.runcorn-snu.org.uk (right widget area). It’s also been placed at https://www.runcorn-snu.org.uk/calendar using ‘[gcal id=”517″]’, as part of troubleshooting (to rule out widget issues).

All help gratefully received! Thanks in advance.

  • A user of mine just had this issue. We were unable to find a solution. I will be very interested in your outcome.

Have you recently added any new plugins? Does it work correctly if you disable all your other plugins?

Assuming this is resolved since there has not been a reply here recently. Please let me know if you continue to have any issues so I can help get it resolved.

    Thanks!

Apologies Nick, my wife was taken into hospital and our baby was born five weeks prematurely. It’s been a hectic time, and I’ve not been home to check correspondence etc.

Unfortunately the issue continues. No new plugins have been added in the last six to 12 months, and deactivating everything except Google Calendar Events didn’t help anything either.

    Thanks for your continued patience.

I have the same problem. “Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?) Please ensure your calendar ID is correct” and calendar empty”. The Google API Key was written automatically and I know the RSS. ?Could you give me a solution? Thanks

usually certificate errors show when you have SSL configured improperly

are you actually running SSL? is your certificate valid?

Now I have in the system everything ok, but Google Calendar events 2.3 give me error: “Bas request”. Do you know what could be?
    Thanks

I think the update is unrelated to your problem with SSL certificate

are you running SSL on your server? do you have a valid certificate?

can I have a link to your site?

    Hi Fulvio,
In this moment I have no SSL CA cert problem. At least the dashboard tells nothing about this past problem. My site is https://beckmesser.com

have you set your own api key for Google Calendar Events plugin?

if yes, mind trying with another key?

I have set my own api key. If I try with another, I get the same maessage: “An error has occured. Bad Request”.
    Is it possible a solution?

    Hello,
I have the same problem, we don’t have any SSL certificate but the plugin always worked, what could be the solution?

have you guys your own api key or using the default one?

have you tried setting the feed timezone to ‘use site’ instead ‘use calendar’?

have you guys your own api key or using the default one?

this is the answer, I was not using my own API Key, so I’ve created one and the calendar works again.
