    Hello,

first of all, the plugin is great and we want to use it for our clients, but we have a problem with the “filter logics” part, so please help us (we are using the free version at the moment).

We are working on a website for a client who sells car parts (more precisely – wiper blades) and the client wants to have the possibility of good filtering. In the sense that it goes linearly, that number one must be selected first and then the other, and so on, and others are locked until then (so that person cannot select 2 or 3 steps before the first). When someone selects a car brand for example: “BMW”, then only the Models related to the BMW category are opened for Model, for example, they select: “1 Series”, after that only the body types that are related to “1 Series – BMW” are opened. by model, for example after selecting: “Hatch”, after that the year opens, which belongs only to everything that is selected, and then, for example, selects the year: “2004 – 2011 (E87)” and lists only those wiper blades, without other things. Also, can that filter form be placed on the home page and can be searched among those things, so that when someone filters it, it can be sent to the “Shop Page” with the selected filters and the results displayed there?

We are sending a link to a site that has exactly what we want:
    https://www.wipertech.com.au/

    #Main Problem:

We tried to do this on our testing site, but it doesn’t work as it should and throws out other makes/models/body types/years, even if they don’t belong to that category and shape. Otherwise, in that world of “Wiper Blades”, 1 product can be found on 10-30+ different Car Brands/Models/Body Types/Years because it is the same product and we made it that way in the WooCommerce settings. For example. for that 1 product we have selected 2+ Car Brands/Models/Body Types/Years and everywhere else when it can be found. Can this work like this or does it have to be done in some other way, it is important for us to display only the results that belong to that form and that the site knows exactly how to display the information, as in the above example of the site we like, that we sent you.

We are sending you a link to our testing site so you can see how it turned out for us and how it currently works on our site, as well as all the settings we made in the Filter Everything Plugin and WooCommerce part. Please help us and tell us honestly if something like this can be done with your plugin, if there is a need, we will also buy the Pro version (if have more settings), it is only important for us that it looks identical to this. Also is there a way to remove this “Search Field” so that “Apply Button Mode” work without it, because, this “Apply Button Mode” won’t show up, if “Search Field” is not selected. Thanks in advance.

    Hello @vortexdizajn

Thank you for your interest in Filter Everything plugin.

First of all I have to say that the issue with the “Apply button” that didn’t appear without the Search field is already solved in the new version 1.7.9, please update the plugin.

Regarding implementation of your filtering algorithm – in general I have to say that it is possible and logic between filters in the Free version is the same as in the PRO except one important moment – the PRO version allows you to filter by variation attributes, but the Free version works only with attritubes in parent product if it is variable.

Also I have to say that the relation between parent and children filters is based on products intersections between these filters. It means that if you select Brand = BMW, you will see only Models that have joint products with BMW. In other words only Models that have more than 0 products that simultaneously have Brand = BMW and particular Model “Series 1”, “Series 3”, “Series 7” etc. But for example if Model “Series 5” has 0 products that simulteneously are in Brand BMW, this particular Model will not appear in the child filter.

So this logic is based on intersections between filters and if this intersection is not empty for particluar term, children filter will contain all such terms. In this case if you attached your products correctly to Brands, Models, Years, Types all should works fine. If it does not, please provide me with link to the filtering results page, where it works not as expected and explain why do you think so.

Regarding placing Filters widget on the Homepage and redirection visitors to the filtered results on the Shop page it is possible in the PRO version.

I hope all these will help you to implement desired filters.
    Regards.

Thanks for the detailed answer and the effort to explain to us how your plugin works (it’s clear to us about Apply Mode Button and redirect). Sorry, we don’t want to be rude or anything like that, but we don’t understand 100% what you wanted to say about the filter logic (since so far we haven’t had requests for such an advanced filter with logic). Can you explain it to us a little more simply? thanks in advance.

First of all, have we properly created the categories/attributes that we want to filter (as well as the settings in the FIlter Everything Plugin) and should we put them in the product like this, even if there are several different categories/attributes (because one same product can be found into more categories/attributes and we want them to be displayed only where they are needed)? Should we go that way, or maybe we should make a separate product (duplicates) for each category/attribute and separate it (of course that would represent a big additional problem for us and we would not want to go that way, but put the same product everywhere it can be found).

What does it mean: “The PRO version allows you to filter by variation attributes” – can we get what we need in the Pro version, even if the same product is in several categories/attributes, can we choose where it will go?

We are sending you specific pictures of what is causing us problems and concerns on the testing site:

    Filter – BMW (4 Parts)

    • As you can see in the first picture below when someone chooses BMW Make, 3 options are currently displayed for the model: 1 Series, 2 Series and A1 (and there should be 2 options, and this model A1 should not be displayed, because it belongs to the Audi car brand).
    • In the second picture, when choosing body type: 4 options appear, and there should be 3 options (Active Tourer belongs to 2 Series, not 1 Series – BMW)
    • In the third picture, if you choose Model 2 Series – BMW instead, all body parts are shown (from BMW – 1 Series, 2 Series, Audi – A1…).
    • In the Fourth picture, if BMW – 1 Series – Hatch were selected, almost all the years to choose from would also appear, and only the first one should appear: 2004 – 2011 (E81, E87).

    https://prnt.sc/CRrYeaF7tRl1

    Filter – Audi (3 Parts)

If we go to choose the car brand Audi, instead of BMW, we will see that almost everything will come out the same, and we want to separate it.

    https://prnt.sc/YANSf6LAgfgq
    https://prnt.sc/bs-QKVgpEw-J

We hope you understand what we mean. It is important for us that only the information for what we want comes out since there will certainly be 50 car brands and models + several body types and years per model. We would like it to be identical to the site link we sent you. Please help us with how can we set this up to work, thanks in advance.

Also, is it possible to search between these fields (like a “search field” inside), when someone selects terms, like on that site? Also, can the paddings/margins be moved (to remove the label text up and make those selecting fields closer to each other)?
