Problem with the email test

    I can’t connect it. It was just fine for so long, until I realized of this error. Email and password are correct.
    Please, help me.

    I have the same issue with Siteground hosting. I’m chatting with them now.

    Same issue here: I have 5 completely different installations (all hosted @siteground) that suddenly have that same issue!

    But I can send emails with the same addresses from Gmail and Outlook, which tends to put culprit on WP Mail SMTP.

    I’m chatting with their support, so far they confirm all settings fine according to them. @steinolaf are you on Siteground too? @freddyee looks like you’re on Siteground according to you error log.

    I tried SSL and TLS with correct ports, even without authentication, always same issue on all accounts. All are under WP Mail SMTP 2.4.0

    same problem, always with siteground who told me to try another plugin (easy wp smtp), but always same error. Until yesterday it worked.

    Update from Siteground support:

    “There appears to be an issue with the SMTP authentication as several users have already reported it. Our developers are currently working on resolving it, but there is no further information at this point.

    We will update you in this ticket as soon as more information is available.”

    Me for WP Mail SMTP support: I tried to rollback to WP Mail SMTP 2.2.1 and issue persists so indeed it seems a Siteground issue.

    I am now using Gmail mailer in WP mail SMTP instead, so my customers can still get emails until this is resolved.

    We’ve implemented an update of our mailing system which resulted in the above reported problem. At the moment we’re reverting the update until we perform additional tests and confirm that it won’t cause such problems.

    @soulshakepower Yes I’m on SiteGround too.

    I tested WP Mail SMTP just now, and it is still not working…

    hello, just now the same problem occurred again.

    “Could not connect to the SMTP host.”

    problem only with port 465 and ssl, with port 25 it works
