Problem with sub directory creation

  • Hello all,
    I installed WP 3.01 and did the multisite installation, followed the tutorial from www.remarpro.com, and changed both wp-config.php and .htaccess with the info at the “Network” area.
    When I create sub directories under my main domain (/site1), I get “underscored” full names for the sites, for example:
    (my main domain is a subdomain)

    I want: https://test.mysite.com/site1
    I get: https://test_mysyte_com_1site1/

    Of course it does not get resolved.

    I contacted my host and they support Mod_rewrite, so I wonder if there is something that I have missed?
    I have read around and can’t find a similar problem that’s why I’m asking now.
